Can a hotel look up how many times you've stayed there?

Q: I'm going to NYC and I've stayed at this one hotel 3 times. Each time I've showed them my cards from my previous stay, and I've been able to get some upgrades and things like that from those, but now I can't seem to locate them. I was wondering...are hotels able to look up a guest by name and see that they have stayed there in the past? 10 points to whoever can help, thanks!

A: Most of the name hotels and most modern ones, use computers to track and save their guests data, so the answer is yes, if your hotel is computerized. They store previous stays and various other data, such as, room #, name, length of stay, preferences, etc.
