How much do Airlines charge for 2 Yr Olds?

Q: My daughter is flying to Texas ,next May ,she will have a Newborn and a 2 yr old with her ,How much does the Airlines charge for a 2 yr old ? Is it free or is there a charge ?Any Help will be appreciated ,Thank you

A: Generally, children under 2 may fly free if they sit on your lap. Of course, the airline can't really prove your child isn't two since they don't have ID. However, American Airlines says "When one adult travels with two infants, the adult passenger may only hold one infant." So you can't have two children on one adult lap. If she is the only adult, then she can have the newborn on her lap, but will need to purchase a seat for the 2 year old. And there is no discount for children. Here is some information from American Airlines. http://www.aa.com/aa/i18nForward.do?p=/travelInformation/specialAssistance/childrenTraveling.jsp Our children were way too squirmy, so we never used this benefit. - schneid
