Questions about San Juan?

Q: We are going to San Juan in Nov and I am looking at hotels and I am a bit confused on what area to stay in. We are not looking to spend a fortune but we do not want to stay in a crap hole either. We have looked at Andalucia Guest House and At Wind Chimes Inn (only 4 parking spaces so we are a bit hesitant) I don't know if it is best to stay in the Isle Verde area or the Ocean Park area or the Condado area. I would like to be within walking distance to the beach, shopping and places to eat. We are renting a car so we can go to the Rain Forest, Old San Juan and explore the rest of the island without taking a cab or the bus. Also has anyone ever been to Vieques? We are going there from the 21st-23rd to go to Bio Bay and we are looking for a nice but affordable place to stay there as well and any tips. Also if anyone can recommend other things to to in San Juan that would be great as well. Thanks fo much for your help!!

A: OK let tell you a little bit about the neighborhoods in San Juan: ISLA VERDE: nice tourist area, with a nice beach, big hotels, restaraunts, casinos & nightclubs CONDADO: nice tourist & residential/business area, with a nice beach, hotels, condos, restaraunts, nightlife & luxury shopping OCEAN PARK: nice residential area with some tourists, nice beach, small Inns, restaraunts OLD SAN JUAN: nice historic & govt area with sites, residential & tons of tourists, small hotels & inns, bars & pubs, restaurants, shopping, No beach If you rent a car you can go anywhere you want, but it might be best to just take a bus when you want to see Old San Juan because it is very tight with traffic & sometimes no driving allowed. Also you should try to get a rental car from a place that has a Fajardo location also, so you can drop off the car for the 2 days youre in Vieques & dont get charged. You can take the car on a special ferry to Vieques, but I dont know how safe it is to do that. The rain forest is a nice trip, if you have extra time you can also go to Camuy caves & arecibo Telescope in 1 trip. & while your in San Juan you can drive to the ferry & take it to Catano & go to the Bacardi Factory Tour.
